WELCOME TO THE SCHOOL NURSES WEBSITE:
The Auckland School Nurses Group (ASNG) is a non profit, non GST registered body of predominantly Registered Nurses working in school based health centres, most of which are based in secondary schools.

Our aim is to provide a youth focused, needs based service, reducing access barriers for youth to health services by providing and coordinating a range of health services for youth in the school setting.

WHERE WE HAVE COME FROM AND FUTURE DIRECTION.
The Auckland School Nurses Group (ASNG) was established in 1986 to support and provide network opportunities for a handful of Auckland Secondary School nurses. Since that time the ASNG has grown to some 90 members not only from the Greater Auckland region, but also Northland, Waikato and Wellington Districts.

In recent years there has been a significant drive to professionalise the group and 2003 saw changes with the way the ASNG has operated. The most significant change has been the formation of the regional clusters and forming a committee with representatives from each of those clusters.

This website was established in 2004 and the opportunity to expand this site came about with the support and funding through the Counties Manukau District Health Board's 2005 and 2006 School Health Project.

PROFESSIONAL ALIGNMENT
The ASNG is professionally affiliated with The College of Nurses Aotearoa (NZ) Inc. The College generously assisted us by reducing the annual membership to $225 (inc GST). As this is a special case for us, the College require each application and subsequent renewal to have written confirmation (on school letterhead) of your employment at a SBHC. The College also has the right to review this offer.
